Ethan Hawke: Knicks Owner Took Away My Tickets for Ripping the Team

Owner James Dolan didn’t take kindly to Hawke criticizing the firing of Mike D’Antoni.

What do ex-NBA All-Star Charles Oakley and Hollywood actor Ethan Hawke have in common?

They both are banned from sitting courtside to watch the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

Like the former Knick player, former Knick fan Hawke has lost his courtside privileges after getting into a beef with New York franchise owner James Dolan.

During an appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast this week, Hawke said he stopped getting free tickets from the team after publicly criticizing New York’s firing of coach Mike D’Antoni.

“I called up one night and they said it would be $7,800,” Hawke told Simmons. “I was like, ‘Oh, um, oh, why is this the first time you guys are charging me?’ They said that you should have thought of that before you went on the Jimmy Fallon Show. I was like, ‘Wow, this is real.’ So I’ve apologized publicly many times to try and get my seats again.”

Since the ban, Hawke switched his allegiance to the Cleveland Cavalier and LeBron James.
