Three weeks after he spurned continuing his relationship with Papa John’s, Peyton Manning rejected not just one, but two potential new suitors: ESPN and Fox.
Both ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” and Fox’s “Thursday Night Football” were attempting to lure the Hall of Fame quarterback out of retirement and into the broadcast booth and both have failed, according to The New York Post.
After seeing the success Tony Romo had as an analyst for CBS last season, ESPN and Fox had hopes that Manning could succeed in similar fashion.
In lieu of Manning, Fox is reportedly considering Kurt Warner, Jason Witten, Carson Palmer, Joe Thomas or Greg Olsen as an alternative option.
The Post reports ESPN is considering Olsen, Warner, Matt Hasselbeck, Louis Riddick or Randy Moss and also has Brett Favre pegged as “a long-shot candidate.”
