Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Wants Jeff Bezos to Buy the Seahawks

The Amazon CEO could be a fit for the NFL ownership void following Paul Allen's death.

Following the death of Paul Allen, there is a void in NFL ownership as the Microsoft co-founder was the owner of the Seattle Seahawks.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is hoping another tech billionaire can help fill that void.

While speaking with the MMQB’s Jenny Vrentas, Jones said Bezos, who is already based in Seattle and has a relationship with the NFL via Amazon’s streaming partnership with Thursday Night Football, would be an ideal candidate.

“Someone like that,” Jones said of Bezos, “I’d carry him piggyback to get him to the NFL.”

Bezos never married and has no children so there is no obvious successor from within his family who would take over ownership of the team.

Other names who have been mentioned as potential buyers for the Pacific Northwest club are ex-Microsoft CEO and current owner of the Los Angeles Clippers Steve Ballmer, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, and Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob.
