Could the Steelers Be Forced to Sell Low on Antonio Brown?

Brown has a $2.5 million roster bonus that becomes due on March 17.

In order to rid themselves of the headache that Antonio Brown has become and save some money, the Steelers might be forced to sell low on the star wide receiver.

Brown has a $2.5 million roster bonus that becomes due on March 17 and the team doesn’t want to pay it for obvious reasons. Other teams who are interested in trading for Brown also know it, so they will likely be lowballing Pittsburgh in potential trade offers.

And, even if they are getting pennies on the dollar for Brown, the Steelers should take it in the opinion of Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

During an appearance on  ProFootballTalk Live, Bouchette said the Steelers should take whatever they can get in trade for Brown and do it before his roster bonus becomes due on the 17th.

Bouchette was so adamant about the team needing to part ways with Brown that he said he believes the Steelers should trade him even if the compensation is just a conditional seventh-round pick in 2020.

All of that said, the Steelers could always just cut Brown in order to avoid paying him the $2.5 million. Or, they could also do nothing, keep him on the roster and try to work out a better trade before or during the NFL draft.
