Thanks to a lawsuit, Conor McGregor’s next fight will be in the courtroom, not the Octagon.
McGregor is being sued by fellow UFC fighter Michael Chiesa for attacking a bus inside the bowels of the Barclays Center in New York City in April and allegedly injuring Chiesa.
Following the attack, Chiesa withdrew from fighting Anthony Pettis at UFC 223 after suffering cuts to his body and face. Those injuries are named in the lawsuit and Chiesa also claims he suffered “severe emotional distress, mental trauma and/or bodily harm.”
The suit officially charges McGregor with assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress as well as accuses the Barclays Center of negligence.
McGregor was able to avoid jail time and got community service instead after pleading guilty to one count of disorderly conduct in July. He’s currently in training to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in October.
