After stints with the Texans, Rams and Vikings, Case Keenum is going to be a Bronco.
First reported by ESPN, the breakout quarterback of 2017 (3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns, seven interceptions) will reportedly ink a short-term deal with Denver that could net him somewhere in the range of $18 million to $20 million per year.
Keenum will immediately slot in as Denver’s new starter and should provide a steadying influence for a Broncos offense that often struggled with consistency last season.
However, if Denver boss John Elway does not view Keenum as a long-term solution, it’s possible the Broncos could select a quarterback with the fifth overall selection in the NFL draft with the intention of having the rookie spend a year or two learning on the sidelines.
With Denver now set at quarterback, the list of landing spots for the top signal-caller on the market, Kirk Cousins, is now reduced by one. The Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets and Keenum’s former team, the Minnesota Vikings, are all reportedly still in the mix to sign Cousins.
