The Saints marched into Dallas on Thursday night riding a 10-game winning streak, but they left Big D on a one-game losing streak courtesy of a 13-10 defeat at the hands of the Cowboys.

New Orleans was shut out in the first half of the game and the Saints’ prolific offense, which was averaging a league-best 37 points per game, was held to its lowest output in three years and finished with a season-low 176 yards.

The win could also have big implications for the playoffs as New Orleans is now 10-2 and are now trailing the LA Rams (10-1) for the best record in the NFC.

MVP candidate Drew Brees also had a brutal game as he was 18 of 28 for 127 yards and also threw a critical interception that sealed the win for Dallas.

With the victory, the Cowboys are now 7-5 and have a four-game winning streak of their own. No matter what happens the rest of this week, Dallas will at least remain tied for the NFC East lead heading into Week 13 of the season.

“Everybody knew it. We had to keep the ball away from Brees,” Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said. “We needed to play this kind of game. I must tell you, the defense played beyond my expectations. They played like a championship defense.”

The only touchdown of the game came on a 16-yard screen pass to Ezekiel Elliott, who finished with 136 scrimmage yards with 76 rushing and 60 receiving on six catches.

“I think we showed we can compete with the best teams in the league,” Elliott said. “No one believed in us. The whole nation thought we were going to lose. We came out and shocked the world. The crazy thing is we could have played so much better. We are going to enjoy this victory and celebrate it. But we got to get back to work. We got a lot more football left.”
