Earlier this season, Aaron Judge broke a Yankee rookie home-run record set by Hall of Famer Joltin’ Joe DiMaggio. He followed that up by slugging his way to victory at the Home Run Derby.
But of late, the young star-in-the-making has been mired in a major slump (he’s just 10 for 49 in the month of August, hitting a miserable .204). And yesterday, Judge landed in the history books for the second time in his short career, but this time, with a much more dubious honor: He set the single-season strikeout record with a K in 33 straight games—a record previously set by Chicago White Sox slugger Adam Dunn in 2013, according to SB Nation.
Despite landing the upside-down crown, Judge is still leading the American League in home runs with 37 (as well as runs, walks, slugging, and OPS) and will be likely be crowned AL rookie of the year.
