First Lady Melania Trump went her own way in Paris on Thursday, ABC News reports, visiting a children’s hospital at the start of a two-day visit to the French capital with her husband.

While President Trump attended to affairs of state, the First Lady reportedly visited a ward at Necker Hospital that was decorated with imagery from the iconic French novel, The Little Prince.

“You look very good, very strong … Soon you’ll be walking and running,” Mrs. Trump reportedly told a 14-year-old girl named Ysatis, who is in a wheelchair and expected to leave the hospital on Monday.

“It was very pleasant and really good. She’s beautiful and gorgeous,” Ysatis told The Associated Press following the visit.

Mrs. Trump also reportedly spoke briefly in French to six children before switching a translator, and said she was eager to practice more of the language after the director of Paris’ public hospital system, Martin Hirsch, presented her with a copy of The Little Prince.

“I will keep it, practice my French. It’s beautiful,” she said, later taking to Twitter to tweet her appreciation.

Melania is later expected to tour the Seine River by boat with Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, as well as pay a visit the Notre Dame Cathedral.
