For Michelle Obama, the reason she won’t be running for political office is pretty simple: her kids.

Per CNN, in her first speech since leaving the White House, the former first lady told an audience gathered at the American Institute of Architecture convention in Orlando, Florida, that she “wouldn’t ask my children to do this again.”

Obama went on to say that she could better help America as a private citizen and that she didn’t want to be in a political situation again where “people thought I was the devil.”

Per CNN, who reported from the event—which didn’t allow cameras—said that Obama also talked about the freedoms of life as a private citizen that she didn’t have while at the White House. For instance, she can answer the door to her house. Or Sasha and Malia can open their windows, something they were strictly forbidden from doing at the White House.
