It was the viral clip seen around the world: College professor and East Asian expert Robert Kelly was giving a live interview on the BBC last week when his young daughter came bumbling into his office, followed closely by a baby in a rambler.

Kelly’s mortified wife, Kim Jung-A, almost immediately scrambled to usher them out—but not before the family became a viral sensation. The Kelly clan is now speaking out for the first time since the endearing blunder made global headlines.

“It’s a mixture of surprise and embarrassment and amusement and love and affection — it was terribly cute, I saw the video just like everybody else, it is really funny,” Kelly told the Wall Street Journal.

Watch as he and his wife Kim relive the hilarious moments leading up to the gaffe, and how they’ve dealt with media attention since.
