Hurricane Harvey may be the most powerful storm to hit the U.S. in more than a decade, ABC News reports, prompting the emergency evacuation of ten critically ill babies from a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, and urges from authorities for residents to immediately leave the area, according to CNN.

“Hopefully it doesn’t do any damage but if it does we’ve prepared,” CNN cited Brittany Fowler, a firefighter in Corpus Christi, writing on Instagram.

But authorities expect Harvey, forecasted to become a Category 3 hurricane, to inflict serious damage — some of which will be life-threatening, the New York Times reports. Students at Texas A&M University were instructed to leave the area, while police in Aransas Pass ordered a mandatory evacuation.

In addition to the southern coast of Texas, residents in portions of Louisiana and the lower Mississippi Valley are also at risk.
