Just when you thought it was safe to go into the water off the Jersey Shore …

Mary Lee, the famed great white shark with her own Twitter following, was sighted off the coast of New Jersey’s Island Beach State Park Sunday. The 17-foot shark—tagged by the scientific organization, Ocearch, in 2002—is believed to be swimming her way closer to the New York area.

Not that she’ll be sneaking up on any unsuspecting bathers: The tracker on her dorsal fin emits “pings” that can be followed on the Ocearch web site. The closest she came Sunday was a mile from shore.

And it’s most likely that she’s here for seafood dinners that would be the envy of any Atlantic City casino visitor: bluefish, for example, are usually found in the region at this time of year, according to Toms River Patch.
