In this year’s installment of The Hollywood Reporter’s Actor Roundtable, Tom Hanks tried to offer an answer for why so much abuse takes place in Hollywood. “There are some people who go into this business because they got off on having power,” Hanks told The Hollywood Reporter. “There are predators absolutely everywhere,” he added.

Without going into specifics, Hanks said that he had produced a project in which a participant accused another of sexual harassment and that his reaction was to go to the guilds and deal with it immediately. Hanks also condemned the “rules don’t apply” attitude that some people on Hollywood sets use to excuse predatory behavior.
