Shia LaBeouf’s latest thriller, Man Down, didn’t exactly thrill at the British box office, making just one ticket’s worth of money during its opening weekend in England.
The box-office tracking firm ComScore reported that Lionsgate’s war film grossed just £7, or $8.70 in U.S. dollars, which is the average price of a movie ticket in the country, according to Variety.
“Poor Shia,” Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at ComScore, told the industry trade. “That opening could be in the Guinness World Records or something.”
As ignominious as that number is, it’s fair to point out that Man Down only screened in one theater, the Reel Cinema in Burnley, and was also simultaneously released on demand.
It’s still a far cry from LaBeouf’s Transformers heyday. But the actor’s career has taken a hit after several arrests, bar room altercations, a stint in rehab for alcohol abuse and some odd performance art stunts that eclipsed his film work.
But he’s not the lone Hollywood figure to get snubbed by the fickle British film crowd, as Variety points out. Emma Watson’s indie movie, The Colony, only grossed £47 in her home country.
