The race towards the this year’s Palme d’Or at Cannes is getting interesting. First, there was a breakout performance from Adam Sandler in The Meyerowitz Stories. Now, former goth teen vampire heartthrob Robert Pattinson—best known for his star turn as Edward Cullen in the Twilight saga—is getting rousing ovations for his Cannes entry, Good Time.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the movie, directed by brothers Ben and Joshua Safdie, and co-starring Jennifer Jason Leigh, about a bank robbery gone wrong and a man trying to free his incarcerated brother, “received a tremendous applause as soon as the credits came onscreen, and when the lights came up, the crowd went wild.” In all, it got a six-minute standing ovation.
The film is in the running for the festival’s grand prize, which will be handed out today.
Good Time hits U.S. theaters on Aug. 22. Watch the trailer above.
