Carrie Fisher’s autopsy report has been made public, and the results speak to her personal struggles. The actress, who was very open about her addictions that began at an early age and continued throughout her adult life, apparently had cocaine, traces of heroin and possibly morphine, and ecstasy in her system at the time of her death, per the Associated Press.
However, the coroner’s official report noted that her death was due to sleep apnea and a confluence of other health issues. It’s unclear what role the drugs in her system played in her death—the cocaine in particular, per the coroner’s official report.
The report goes on to say that “Ms. Fisher suffered what appeared to be a cardiac arrest on the airplane accompanied by vomiting and with a history of sleep apnea. Based on the available toxicological information, we cannot establish the significance of the multiple substances that were detected in Ms. Fisher’s blood and tissue, with regard to the cause of death.”
