Great Earthquake of San Francisco Struck 110 Years Ago This Month

The great earthquake of 1906 in San Francisco hit 110 years in April. According to University of California Berkeley’s seismological lab, the quake measured between 7.7 and 7.9 on the Richter scale. The photograph below shows people on Russian Hill, looking toward San Francisco’s downtown burning after the quake. Three thousand people lost their lives and over 80 percent of San Francisco was destroyed.
