Model Ming Xi took a tumble during the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which was filmed on Nov. 20. Originally, it was reported that the fall would not be televised, but it was shown on Tuesday night’s CBS broadcast, reports E News. It appears that the 28-year-old model got tangled in her flowing, sheer ensemble.
But the Chinese model was a total pro, and did not let the fall affect her on stage. She kept a smile on the whole time, and even seemed to laugh at herself as she adjusted her hair and continued to walk down the catwalk. She received applause from the other models and the audience, reports E News.

But the backstage footage shows some completely different emotions. Once she was away from the audience, Xi burst into tears. But she didn’t suffer alone: footage shows models coming to comfort their friend.
One source told E News that “Ming was really upset when she fell on the runway. It was a hard fall. She got up as gracefully as she could. She was shaken up after that fall. All the models made her feel better after though. She is OK now.”
The source told E News that Xi is “one of the favorites” to walk the Victoria’s Secret runway and that it is every model’s “worst nightmare to fall.” But the source also said that models “embrace each other” if anything unexpected, like Xi’s fall, happens and that they are all “a team.”
Xi addressed the fall on Instagram.
As many of you may already know, I fell during my 5th year walking at the Victoria’s Secret show yesterday. It was no doubt one of the hardest moments I have ever had to go through in my career, especially since the show was taking place in my hometown, in front of my mother’s and my people’s eyes. However, the support I received from everyone yesterday was incredible and I am truly grateful to everyone who was there for me. @ed_razek Thank you for your supportive words and your continuous support throughout these 7 years. @giizeleoliveira Thank you for helping me up after the fall, it was a very selfless and loving act from you. Thank you to all the girls who rushed to comfort me at backstage after what had happened, you are all family to me. Lastly thank you to everyone who sent and left me supportive messages. I will pick myself up from where I fell, and I will keep going in order to repay all the support you all have given me!! ❤️️#vsfashionshow @victoriassecret
And let’s be honest, we all wish we looked as good as Xi does when we stumble.
