Conor McGregor’s suit really did make a fashion statement.

The UFC fighter-turned-boxer used his attire to get under Floyd Mayweather’s skin at a promotional event ahead of their highly-anticipated match in August. McGregor donned a tailored suit with a unique detail: the words ‘F— You’ stitched repeatedly to form pinstripes.

McGregor is typically known for being stylish (for a fighter), so the bespoke suit made by David August didn’t seem out of the ordinary from afar. But, it wasn’t until the the cameras panned in to his pinstripes during the press conference that his outfit started to talk smack as well as its wearer.

Esquire reports the pugilist has been wearing David August for his entire career. But for the biggest fight of his life, he needed something special. McGregor’s suit was a super 130s navy wool fabric made in-house just for him.

“I wanted to do something irreverent that brought out the ‘notorious’ in Conor,” the label’s CEO said to Esquire. “Conor is a fan of our pinstripe and plaid suits, so I felt weaving this specific phrase into the cloth was the perfect way to bring together the bespoke details of a custom suit and Conor’s personality.”
