The first trailer for the new Aladdin has arrived. The latest in Disney’s live-action remakes of the company’s classic animated movies, Aladdin will bring audiences back to the city of Agrabah, with Mena Massoud taking on the title role.

The teaser trailer guides us through the desert toward the Cave of Wonders. We don’t get a glimpse at the characters as much as we do a portrait of the setting. Before the final shot, only Jafar’s parrot Iago appears on screen. Then, after the title card, we finally get to see Massoud’s new Aladdin, staring at the magic lamp.

Though he is not seen in the trailer, Will Smith will play Genie, the role famously voiced by Robin Williams in the 1992 animated version. Aladdin is directed by Guy Ritchie, of Sherlock Holmes and Snatch fame. The live action movie will hit theaters May 24, 2019.
