‘Sicario: Day of the Soldado’ Trailer Shows a World Without Rules

The drug war goes off the rails in Sony’s new trailer, with Benicio Del Toro reprising his role.

The new trailer for Sicario: Day of the Soldado has finally dropped, and in it, the drug war is a lot more out of control. Benicio Del Toro returns as undercover operative Alejandro Gillick and Josh Brolin is back as CIA agent Matt Graver. The trailer shows Del Toro’s character — whose family was murdered by a cartel kingpin — gunning down a cartel operative in broad daylight. Del Toro and Graver’s characters find themselves back in the middle of the war against drugs along the United States-Mexico border. In the movie, drug cartels are now smuggling terrorists across the border. So Del Toro and Gillick’s characters decide to pit the cartels against each other. The trailer includes plenty of gunfire, explosions and shots of helicopters swooping around the desert. Check it out below.

Sicario: Day of the Soldado opens on June 29.
