Toyota is landing on the moon in 2029.

The Japanese Space Exploration Agency (JAXA) has partnered with Toyota to create a self-driving rover that can transport up to two humans for up to 10,000 kilometers using the carmaker’s fuel cell tech and solar power.

The rover sits atop six wheels with about 13 square meters of interior space fit for habitation- about the size of two mini buses. The moon vehicle will roam alone before meeting up with the astronauts that arrive after the rover touches down on the moon.

It’s an active time for space exploration and the moon in particular as China recently landed on the far side of the moon and Israel is on its way to landing a spacecraft on the iron-dense rock, and, if Elon Musk has his way, we’ll have a base on the moon in the near future.
