No one expected Emily Ratajkowski, a model and actress with 17 million Instagram followers, to be able to pull off an under-the-radar City Hall wedding. But she did, when she married Sebastian Bear-McClard this February. The I Feel Pretty star sat down with Vanity Fair to talk about how she was so deliriously, blindly in love that she thought she could get away with a wedding without anyone noticing.

“We decided we were going to get married in January and then were kind of waiting for the right moment,” she said. “It’s one of those things [where] you have to choose one witness and we couldn’t just choose one of our friends, so then we were like, which friends can be there? I can’t even imagine what having a 300-person wedding is like, because it still felt kind of hectic to plan ours.”

The couple got the groom’s childhood friend, Josh Ostrovsky to be a decoy, since he is a “rather noticeable person.” Ratajkowski hoped the paparazzi would think Ostrovsky was the one getting married. Her girlfriends all wore suits and Ratajkowski herself wore a mustard yellow suit and a black hat with netting. She and Bear-McClard were able to enjoy a few hours of post-wedding bliss before her publicist texted saying the news was about to break and said Ratajkowski should break it herself on social media. But first, the model had to tell her parents.
