Mansion Modeled on Versailles is on the Market for $60 Million

The 17th century-style manor is on Long Island's Gold Coast.

Among all the gorgeous estates on the Gold Coast of Long Island, there is one that, though stunning, doesn’t necessarily fit in. According to Town & Country, “Maison des Jardins Maison des Jardins” was constructed over the past several years, but the 22,000-square-foot, 17th century-style manor was modeled on the Château de Versailles and the Château de Vaux le Vicomte in France. It is now on the market for $60 million. The home was designed by architects Michael J. Wallin and Douglas R. Schneider. It took about four years to complete. The house has eight bedrooms, eight bathrooms, five half-baths, and a cupola on the roof. The lower-level has 13-foot ceilings and the kitchen has marble countertops. The home also has a movie theater, wine cellar, a billiard room and a fitness center. Raphael Yakoby, an Israeli-born entrepreneur, is the man behind the home, and he had planned to move in with his family but instead decided to list the house and its contents for $100 million last summer, according to Newsday. The house sits on nearly 8.4 acres. The front door is a replica of the one at Versailles and the staircase’s cast-iron and gold-leaf banister was modeled after one at Marie Antoinette’s Le Petit Trianon. The $60 million price tag includes all furniture.
