The Backstreet Boys upcoming tour brings a certain nostalgia, though the band has been releasing new music and televised performances. With nine studio albums, a Las Vegas residency and who knows how many tours under their belt, it almost seems like the famous boy band is untouchable. But the breakout star of the band, Nick Carter, is the subject of an ongoing police investigation following sexual-assault accusations made against him. His alleged victim, Melissa Schuman, refuses to stop calling him out, although her allegations are receiving very little airtime.

Schuman, formerly of the pop group Dream who became an actress and a comedian, first shared her story in a November blog post. She claims that Carter raped her when she was 18-years-old and then called her over and over again after the attack. She told friends and her manager, but she did not report it to the police until this year when the #MeToo movement inspired her to speak up.

Schuman has continued to speak up ever since her blog post. In May, she responded to a Good Morning America tweet announcing the Backstreet Boys would be playing at its Summer Concert Series.
