Silicon Valley has a plan to liven up their holiday parties: hiring models to mingle with the engineers. The models will be paid to be there and will be contractually obligated to pretend they are party guest. A record number of tech companies are quietly paying $50 to $200 an hour for each model hired solely to hang out with their employees. Cre8 Agency LLC is sending 25 women and five men, all attractive, to a large gaming company in San Francisco. This odd office party idea follows a year where Silicon Valley has been called out for its sexism and lack of women in the workplace. This year, companies such as Uber have faced sexual assault and harassment allegations and lawsuits.
