Right-of-center SNL  fans excited about the prospect of seeing a cold open that didn’t poke fun at the Trump Administration may have been heartened Saturday night at the start of what appeared to be a parody of The Bachelor. But then reality set in. The sketch, a tongue-in-cheek nod to Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s botched proposal on the real version of ABC’s The Bachelor, focused on jilted contestant Becca Kufrin. (played by Cecily Strong in the Saturday Night Live version.) Instead of having her engagement and heartbroken, however, this time Becca was burned by her trust in special counsel Robert Mueller.

“I’ve been struggling a little bit over the last few months just, like trying to figure this whole thing out and like grasp everything, and the reality is that I don’t…I don’t think that I can give you everything that you want right now,” says Kate McKinnon’s Mueller.

“So, what you don’t have Trump on collusion?” answers a stunned Becca.
