Sarah Palin Claims Sacha Baron “Duped” Her Into an Interview

Former VP nominee says the comedian posed as a disabled vet.

Sarah Palin reports that she was unwittingly interviewed by comedian Sacha Baron Cohen for his upcoming Showtime series, Who Is America? after he tricked her into believing he was a disabled U.S. veteran. Palin shared the story in a Facebook post, saying, “Yup — we were duped. Ya’ got me, Sacha. Feel better now? I join a long list of American public personalities who have fallen victim to the evil, exploitive, sick ‘humor’ of the British ‘comedian’ Sacha Baron Cohen, enabled and sponsored by CBS/Showtime.”

The former Alaska governor and Republican vice-presidential candidate said that she and her then 16y-year-old daughter, Piper, were asked to travel across the country for the interview. She says once there, Cohen had “heavily disguised himself as a disabled US Veteran, fake wheelchair and all.” She had originally thought the interview was a “legit opportunity” to honor U.S. veterans. Afterwards, she claims Cohen’s staff intentionally dropped her and her daughter off at the wrong Washington, D.C. airport, causing them to miss their flight and Piper a day of school. Palin has now challenged Cohen, CBS, and Showtime to donate all proceeds from the show to a charity “that actually respects and supports American Vets.”
