On Monday, Roseanne Barr posted a racist tweet in which she suggested that former Barack Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett is a product of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Planet of the Apes.

“muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” Barr tweeted in response to a post about Jarrett, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The tweet has since been deleted.

When other Twitter users pointed out that the tweet seemed racist, Barr replied, “Muslims r NOT a race.”

She then responded to a user who called her out by saying her first tweet was “a joke.”

But not long after, Barr posted an apology, saying, “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.”

She then tweeted that she was leaving Twitter.
