North and South Korea announced their plan to make a joint bid for the 2032 Olympic Games.
The two neighboring nations are meeting on Friday to craft a letter to send to the International Olympic Committee confirming their intent to co-host the Summer Games, they said in a statement.
Each country also plans to send athletes to compete on one, united team at next year’s Handball World Championship in Germany, Reuters reported.
The decision to try and host the 2032 games together was made by South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un when the two met at their September summit in Pyongyang.
Earlier this year, athletes from both North and South Korea marched under a unified peninsula flag at the opening ceremony of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.
Other nations throwing their names into the proverbial Olympics hat for the 2032 games include India and Indonesia.Read the full story at Reuters
