Netflix has released a trailer for their new limited series from director Cary Joji Fukunaga, Maniac.

And there’s a lot more to the series than just the reunion of Superbad stars Emma Stone and Jonah Hill. The trailer begins with the two actors, who play Annie Landsberg and Owen Milgrim, being interrogated by Justin Theroux’s Dr. James Mantleray. The doctor claims he can repair anything in the mind with a sequence of pills that he invented.

“It’s not therapy, it’s science,” Mantleray says in the trailer. “Once you begin to appreciate the structure of the mind, there’s no reason to believe anything about us can’t be changed. Pain can be destroyed. The mind can be solved.”

The series follows Annie and Owen, who are strangers, as they are drawn to the late stages of a mysterious pharmaceutical trial, each for their own reasons. Variety writes that Annie is “disaffected and aimless” and constantly focused on broken relationships with her mother and sister. Meanwhile, Owen is the fifth son of wealthy New York industrialists and has struggled his whole life with a disputed diagnosis of schizophrenia.

The series arrives on Netflix on Sept. 21. Watch the trailer below.
