A couple accused of murdering a man in order to take over his home were arrested wearing the victim’s distinctive clothing. Police caught them draining his bank account into their neo-Nazi roofing company’s PayPal account, reports The Daily Beast.
Jeremy Shaw allegedly scouted local homes so that he could kill the occupants and gain squatter’s rights. Prosecutors say that he allegedly murdered Steven Morphis, a recently retired 67-year-old who lived alone, with a flashlight. After the murder, Shaw and his wife conspired to take over Morphis’ life by transferring the deed from his house and wearing his clothes, The Daily Beast reports. Police say that couple had been planning the assault all month, and had research an “adverse possession,” a process by which, if a person lives on a property long enough, they can become the legitimate owners.
Police traced Morphis’ phone to the Shaw’s home on September 21, where they found Shaw wearing Morphis’ Boeing jacket. They found Morphis’ collectibles and wallet alongside Shaw’s own Nazi paraphernalia, meth, credit card readers and fake ID printers.Read the full story at The Daily Beast
