Michael Avenatti and his former companies owe millions in unpaid taxes — a sum that may add up to a loss for his presidential aspirations.
Both the Eagan Avenatti law firm and a now-shuttered coffee chain in Seattle owe millions of dollars in unpaid taxes and judgments, according to court documents and filings obtained by The Daily Beast.
Orange County, Californa tax liens also show that the lawyer owes at least $1.2 million in federal taxes. And, according to civil court filings, Avenatti continued to live a luxurious life full of jet-setting and car racing with international royalty while maintaining these outstanding debts, The Daily Beast reported.
But since wiping his hands clean of any ownership in either indebted business, Avenatti claims to have no liability in any money owed.
“None of those obligations are my responsibility,” he said, according to the news site.
