Margot Kidder, the actress best known for her role as Lois Lane in 1978’s Superman died Sunday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She was 69. No cause of death was disclosed.

Kidder also starred across Robert Redford in The Great Waldo Pepper and Richard Pryor in Some Kind of Hero. She appeared in the Superman-inspired TV series Smallville in 2004, though did not play Lois Lane. On Monday, DC Comics tweeted a tribute to the actress, who played Lois Lane from 1978-87.

Superman director Richard Donner said that Kidder was “charming and very funny.”

“When I met her in the casting office,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in 2016, “she tripped coming in and I just fell in love with her. It was perfect, this clumsy [behavior].”
