Kim Kardashian Wants to Help More Than 3,000 People Serving Life Sentences

They are all serving for first-time, nonviolent offenses.

Kim Kardashian West isn’t stopping now that Alice Marie Johnson is free. She has a mission to help more than 3,000 others currently serving life sentences for first-time, nonviolent offenses.

Kardashian West spoke to Mic about what it was like to be the one to tell Johnson that she was freed. She called Johnson in prison, and told her, “Alice, you’re free, you’re getting out today.” Kardashian West said that Johnson screamed — she said she will “never forget that scream” — and then they all started crying.

“I’ve never claimed to know everything about prison reform, but I know that I’m interested and I know that I have a voice,” she told Mic. “I can link up with people that, you know, really know about some great people that we can hopefully present again and really start helping people.”
