‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ Showcases Sad Truth About Reading in U.S.

Most people struggled to name one book they had read when asked to do so on camera.

In today’s slightly depressing news, a new study from the Pew Research Center says that one in four Americans has not read a book in the past year. So Jimmy Kimmel Live went out to ask people on the street to name a book, any book, and the results were, well, upsetting. Many people respond “I don’t read books,” while other people named movies, like The Lion King and Jungle Book. One contestant asks if magazines count, while another person said they read a book by Moby Dick named Horse. Many adults said the last book they read was Dr. Seuss.
