Jennifer Lopez is heading back to the big screen. She has signed on to star in the stripper story Hustlers, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Annapurna is developing an adaptation of the New York magazine article, “Hustlers at Scores,” which looked at former strip club employees who devise a plan that allows them to steal tens of thousands of dollars from their wealthy Wall Street clients.

Lorene Scafaria, known for Seeking a Friend for the End of the World and The Meddler, is directing the film and also wrote the script on the 2015 article by Jessica Pressler, which was based on a true story. Lopez will play a former stripper and the ringleader of the group, whose plans go a little too far.

“The film is an empathetic look at women and men, our gender roles, what we’re valued for, what we’ve been told is our value in every movie, TV show, every corner of culture. Men have been told they’re worth the size of their bank accounts. Women have been told they’re worth the symmetry of their faces, their bodies, their beauty, and that’s what this film is based on. The rules of the club are the rules of the world,” said Scafaria, according to THR.

J. Lo was recently awarded the MTV Video Music Awards’ Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, and has starred in The Boy Next Door, Monster-in-Law, and The Wedding Planner, among other films.

“There is no other actor who could embody this raw and dynamic character with such complexity, humanity and intelligence. It’s always been her. She’s fucking Jennifer Lopez.” said Scafaria, according to THR.
