A Southwest flight had to make a quick U-turn after a human heart meant for donation was accidentally left behind on board, the airline said.

The airline didn’t realize the donated organ was still on board until after the flight left the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Sunday, where it was due to be unloaded, for Dallas, CNN reported.

“We made the decision to return to Seattle to ensure the shipment was delivered to its destination within the window of time allotted by our cargo customer,” the airline said.

The heart was, however, unharmed in its delay and ultimately reached its destination on time. It had no intended recipient, according to Sierra Donor Services, the nonprofit that organized the donation, but was instead wanted for its valves which will be used for future surgical procedures.
