“Fearless Girl” is moving to the New York Stock Exchange. The popular statue, which has been facing down the “Charging Bull” sculpture in Lower Manhattan for a year, is moving about three blocks away to face the stock exchange building. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and State Street Global Advisors, the financial firm that installed the statue in March 2017, said the statue would be by the end of this year, reports CNN.

The mayor said that the “Charging Bull” may also get a new home, though it is not yet clear when or where. “Fearless Girl” has captured the hearts of those around the world, with many people making the trip to go see her and stand in the same defiant stance for pictures. She has even been dressed for the cold weather. The statue was originally supposed to stay for a few days, but since she was embraced her so fully, the city decided to extend her permit for a year. The city says crowding around the statue posed a safety risk and was a factor in the move. Thomas Farley, president of the New York Stock Exchange, said the statue is “a striking symbol of our ongoing journey toward greater equality,” reports CNN. He went on to say that they “eagerly await the arrival of Fearless Girl to her fitting new home.”

The statue was designed to call attention raise awareness of a State Street initiative to get more women on corporate boards. Since “Fearless Girl” was installed, more than 150 companies have added a woman to their boards, reports CNN. The sculpture, Kristen Visbal, is “thrilled” that the statue will remain in NYC. She told CNN that she believes the statue’s message has extended beyond finance. She hopes that since the statue will still be in a very public place, “Fearless Girl” will “continue to inspire the global community regarding gender collaboration in every aspect of life.”
