Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo Debate Ethics of Having Kellyanne Conway as Guest

Conway was a guest on “Chris Cuomo Prime Time.”

CNN’s Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon had a spirited debate Thursday night over who should be invited to appear on their shows. This came after President Trump’s counselor, Kellyanne Conway, appeared as a guest on “Chris Cuomo Prime Time.” Following the interview, Lemon, the host of “CNN Tonight,” told Cuomo that he is against bringing Conway on air for multiple reasons, including: “she never answers a question, she berates you, she’s condescending.”

“For me, it feels beneath the dignity of this network to have someone on who just constantly lies and misconstrues things,” Lemon said, according to The Wrap. The host went on to say that he wants guests on CNN to be able to state their opinion, but they “have an obligation to be honest with the American people.”

But Cuomo said if he held his show to the standard that Lemon is pushing for, “I’d have very few people on this show.”

“If you’re gonna limit who you have on the show to the people who only answer the questions and are truthful,” Cuomo asked, according to The Wrap, “are you gonna be alone a lot of the time?”

Though the debate got heated, the men stayed civil.

“It’s not just you and I don’t mean to pick on you,” Lemon said as the conversation wound down.

“I deserve the criticism. I do it on purpose, I do it intentionally, and I do it for what I believe is good intentions,” said Cuomo. “But I do it the most and I understand that I should get the criticism.”
