Charlie Rose Snags Sun Valley Invite Despite #MeToo Scandal

Disgraced TV journalist will hobnob with billionaires at Allen & Company retreat.

Months after CBS and PBS cut ties Charlie Rose after two Washington Post exposés revealed that more than two dozen women had accused him of sexual misconduct, it appears that the 76-year-old TV newsman is still hailed in certain circles.  News of the guest list at the annual Allen & Company retreat in Sun Valley, Idaho leaked on Bloomberg last week and Rose’s name stood out among the collection of moguls — especially in the #MeToo era.

Vanity Fair sure noticed.

“The Allen invite suggests that, in certain quarters, he still very much exists, and raises the still unanswered question of what the afterlife of #MeToo men should be,” wrote Vanity Fair‘s Joe Pompeo. “Can they mingle in gated communities like the Allen & Company gathering but not in public? And how large is the gap between the public discussion of #MeToo and private ones?”
