Last week, Barack Obama unveiled his official portrait at a ceremony in the U.S. capital. Every former U.S. President has had a painted portrait made and hung in the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery. Obama’s was painted by Kehinde Wiley, and it is nothing short of incredible. But one thing you may not have noticed right away is what’s on Obama’s wrist: A Rolex of course. The watch Obama has on in the portrait is a Rolex Cellini reference 50509, which is a 39mm time-only watch with a white gold case and a classic alligator strap. It costs about $15,200. During his time as president, Obama tended to wear much less expensive watches, like a Fitbit Surge and a Jorg Gray chronograph given to him by the Secret Service, according to Hodinkee. But the former president was spotted wearing a Rolex at the Invictus Games in Toronto in October 2017.
