Armie Hammer has been cast in Death on the Nile, the upcoming sequel to 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express. The adaptation of Agatha Christie’s 1937 mystery novel will bring back Kenneth Branagh as director and star, in the role of Hercule Poirot, and add Hammer and Gal Gadot. The roles Hammer and Gadot will take on have not yet been announced.

Death on the Nile received its first screen adaptation in 1978, featured Peter Ustinov, Bette Davis, Mia Farrow, and Maggie Smith, among many other stars. Contemporary to the time of its writing, Death on the Nile takes place in 1930s Egypt and finds Poirot investigating a love triangle-turned-murder.

Though Death on the Nile is currently scheduled for a December 2019 release, it won’t shoot until the middle of next year, making an end-of-the-year debut a longshot.
