It seems Chris Hardwick is the walking dead as far as AMC is concerned.
On Saturday, the network pulled Talking with Chris Hardwick, which was supposed return on Sunday night, in the wake of a bombshell sexual assault allegation from the TV personality’s ex-girlfriend. The move comes two days after Chloe Dykstra posted an essay on Medium alleging she had been locked in an emotionally abusive relationship and sexual assault. While she didn’t directly name the ex, it was clear from the context which former boyfriend to whom she was referring.
Hardwick, who also co-founded the geek website Nerdist, released a statement late Friday saying he was “devastated to read that she is now accusing me of conduct that did not occur.” But that was not enough to staunch the backlash engulfing social media and the resulting pressure on AMC.
“We have had a positive working relationship with Chris Hardwick for many years,” the network said in a statement. “We take the troubling allegations that surfaced yesterday very seriously. While we assess the situation, Talking with Chris Hardwick will not air on AMC, and Chris has decided to step aside from moderating planned AMC and BBC America panels at Comic-Con International in San Diego next month.”
