Who’s a good boy, and also an intensively trained K9 who protects his human partner and their family from carjackings, home invasions and random street attacks?
Personal protection dogs, also known as PPDs, are definitely not trained by Cesar Millan; that’s a job for former Navy Seal Mike Ritland, who formed his company Trikos International after serving for 12 years as a SEAL, according to Town and Country. He told the magazine that switching from teaching humans to dogs came naturally to him and that he prefers to work with three breeds: German shepherds, Dutch shepherds, and the Belgian Malinois.
When they’re fully trained, they don’t come cheap — it costs between $55,000 and $100,000 for a PPD, but they’re perfect for celebrities and private individuals who may have security concerns.
