At this year’s Geneva International Motor Show, nanoFlowcell Holdings unveiled the Quant 48Volt, an electric supercar concept powered by a mix of positive and negative electrolyte fluids.

What that means, in layman’s terms, is that the Quant 48Volt is an eco-friendly powerhouse. It’s all-wheel drive with 760 hp, and goes from 0-60 mph in just 2.4 seconds, with a top speed of 186 mph. Even better, the car’s range is over 621 miles. The car’s insane performance is credited to the nanoFlowcell battery’s improved cell membrane and the car’s innovative, low-voltage motors.

Of course, this is just a concept that isn’t ready for a more concrete pricing and production schedule discussion yet. And even if it was, Engadget points out that the electrolyte fluids that power this car aren’t a regular feature at existing gas stations. NanoFlowcell thinks that gas stations could provide said fluids without too much trouble, but getting them to provide new tech that only one car manufacturer uses is a logistical hurdle.

In any case, it’s good that car manufacturers are considering tech leaps like these, and pondering multiple solutions to pollution and fuel shortage problems. However the duel between pure electric cars and clean fuels shakes out, it’s an exciting time to be a gearhead right now.
