Nick Mason used to be the drummer of Pink Floyd. Now, he has an even better occupation.
The musician has found his calling racing and collecting old Ferraris.
Mason’s cars are among the most expensive in the world. This weekend, he took his 1962 Ferrari GTO — the crown jewel of his collection — on the 1.16 mile track at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The annual event is held about 60 miles south of London and has grown from a small, hillclimb race to a full weekend of racing supercars from around the globe.
He bought the 250 Ferrari forty years ago. In 2014, a similar car sold for a record $38 million in 2014.
“I never wanted to be a car collector, I wanted to go motor racing,” Mason said, according to Bloomberg Pursuits. “What happened was that, thanks to the success of the records, I ended up being able to keep everything I ever raced.”
