We’ve long maintained that the gadget-filled Aston Martin James Bond drove in Goldfinger was the greatest car in the history of film.

Now, following a survey of 2,000 adults in the United Kingdom which was conducted by Hyundai, that opinion has been validated. And, while we wish that poll had been conducted on our side of the pond, we’ll take it.

Following the DB5 on the list of the Top 40 Movie Cars of All-time are the customized Paragon Panther from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the ’81 De Lorean DMC-12 from the Back to the Future trilogy, the ’63 Model 117 Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle from the Herbie movies, and the Batmobile/Tumbler from the Dark Knight trilogy.

Also on the list are the Mirth Mobile from Wayne’s World, Eleanor from Gone in 60 Seconds, The Dude’s Gran Torino from The Big Lebowski, and the ’84 Ford Econoline “Shaggin’ Wagon” from Dumb and Dumber.

Interestingly enough, the poll also found six in 10 Brits think cars are an integral part of cinema history and five in 10 believe cars feature among their fondest movie memories.

Also, the respondents concluded an ideal car chase should last four minutes, 23 seconds on average.
