New York Times White House correspondents Maggie Haberman and Glenn Thrush have agreed to do a Trump book deal for Random House, reports Vanity FairThe two journalists, who both worked in New York tabloids and then at Politico before joining the Times, are the “essential stars of the Trump administration,” writes Vanity Fair.

The book is not just about the drama surrounding the White House during Trump’s year of presidency. Vanity Fair says the two want to make the book about the bigger picture of who Trump is, why and how he won, and where the country is headed as a whole. They already told people that they “want this to mean something,” according to Vanity Fair.

Many things are still up in the air, such as whether or not the two journalists will take leave to write the book and how much advance either is making. Vanity Fair writes that political books by similarly placed reporters have previously earned advances into the millions though.

Thrush has written e-books while Haberman co-wrote a book with New York Post colleague Jeane MacIntosh in 2003 about the kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart, but this would be the duo’s first book together. They are “longtime friends, colleagues and reporting partners,” writes Vanity Fair.

This won’t, however, be the first Trump book out there. To name a few, Joshua Green recently published an account of Trump and Steve Bannon’s partnership — which reached No. 1 on the New York Times list — and Politico Playbook columnists Anna Plamer and Jake Sherman have a book deal about the unknown dramas of Capitol Hill, while Rosie Gray has a biography of Breitbart News in the works.
